People who do not have adequate sleep hours are more prone to paranoia, depression, and anxiety, according to a new study published in the Lancet Psychiatry Magazine.
Previous studies have thought that anxiety and depression make sleeping a major obstacle, but this study believes the opposite, that is, the lack of sleep is raising the risk of both depression and anxiety.
To confirm this theory, the researchers targeted 3,890 people and performed some tests. After analyzing the information, the researchers found that those who did not sleep long enough during the night were harmful to their mental health.
The participants, who had enough hours of sleep, had a 50 percent lower risk of anxiety and depression, and their nightmares dropped by the same percentage, the researchers said.
The researchers said that the lack of sleep hours affect the brain in two ways, how to think and how to think things.
In a related context, the person must have adequate sleep hours according to the age group, as follows:
- · Teens (14-17 years old): They should sleep from 8 to 10 hours.
- · Young adults (18-25 years): 7-9 hours.
- · Adults (26-64): 7-9 hours.
- · Seniors (over 65): 7-8 hours.
